Exercise safety

Fitness disclaimer

Team Awsum workouts are general fitness ideas for educational and informational purposes. They are not personalised training plans or medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and do not replace guidance from a doctor, physiotherapist or qualified trainer.

Before you start

  • Under 18? Please only take part with the agreement and supervision of a parent, guardian or qualified coach.
  • Consult your GP or another appropriate healthcare professional before starting a new exercise programme to check that it is suitable for you, especially if you have a medical condition or injury, are pregnant or have recently given birth, or have not exercised for a while.
  • Do not take part if a healthcare professional has advised you not to exercise. Follow any restrictions or rehabilitation advice you have been given.
  • Always warm up and cool down. Start with the easier options, use a manageable weight and pace, and rest whenever you need to.
  • Use a clear, safe space and stable equipment. Check that equipment is suitable and in good condition.
  • Illustrations are a guide, not a substitute for instruction. If you are unsure how to perform a movement, ask a qualified trainer before trying it.

Stop straight away if

  • You feel pain, dizziness or faintness.
  • You develop chest pain or unusual breathlessness.

Stop exercising and seek medical advice. Do not push through symptoms or resume until it is appropriate to do so.

Call 999 for sudden chest pain that does not go away, chest pain with sweating, sickness, light-headedness or shortness of breath, or severe difficulty breathing.

Exercise risks and your responsibilities

Physical exercise carries risks, including injury, falls and strains. Taking part is voluntary. Choose activities, weights and intensity that suit your current ability and health, and do not attempt movements that are unsuitable for you.

We cannot assess your medical history, check your technique or supervise you through a general workout shared online, by email or in a handout. You are responsible for choosing a suitable environment, using equipment appropriately and seeking individual advice when needed.

No guaranteed results

Everyone starts from a different place. Results vary, and we do not promise a particular fitness, health or weight-loss outcome. Our workouts are not presented as treatment for an injury or medical condition.

Your legal rights

This safety notice does not require you to waive your legal rights. Team Awsum does not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
